Here's everything you need to know...

Registration

MS Rugby is a spring sport. Registration is a 2-part process.

1. Register through HCER. This fee pays for our administration, equipment, coaching staff and other overhead.

2. Register through Rookie Rugby Cleveland. This fee is for our league and includes insurance, refs and other game-related costs.

Practices

Practices are held every Monday & Tuesday (6-7:30) through March 18, 2025, in the East Wood Gym. Starting April 1, 2025, practices are every Tuesday & Thursday (6-7:30) at the Field House Fields between East Woods & Evamere District Offices.

Equipment

The following items are necessary for playing rugby:

• Athletic attire (sneakers for indoor practices)

• Cleats (soccer cleats are great. No metal cleats allowed).

• Molded mouthguard - required for practices, too.

• Tall socks (navy) are recommended for games.

Uniforms

The Club provides uniforms for all players. This includes a jersey and shorts. Players may keep their shorts, but jerseys are loaned.

Games

Middle School rugby is "7s" - which means there are only 7 players from each team on the field at a time. Games consist of two 7-minute halves and we play two games each Sunday at St. Ignatius High School (girls & 7/8 boys) or St. Edwards High School (5/6 boys) in Cleveland, beginning at the end of March through early May. 

Rugby Culture

Rugby is unlike many other sports. It's culture is centered around the love of the sport, rather than winning and losing. Ultimate respect is provided to the refs (called "sirs") and coaches and breaking bread with your opponents post-game is the norm. 

Hudson Rugby Club expects our players, parents and spectators to embody a respectful rugby culture on/off the field and apply Hudson's "Leave it BETTER than you found it" mentality when representing HRC.
