Welcome to our 2nd season of the Hudson Rookie Rugby League!

Here's all the info you need for the season...

**********

Game Schedule

When you arrive at the field every weekend, please send your player to check in at the staff table (give them your last name). Then, they will need to get on a belt & flags. There will be a pile near the table. You are welcome to assist in this process until they get the hang of it. Once they are checked in and belted, the coaches will call them over.

Each weekend, players can expect to play two games with a skill station through which they will rotate. On the weekends that North Canton & Perry come up to play against us, the format may be slightly different for those age groups.

Please see the game schedule below and keep reading...

Attendance

We expect that players will attend every weekend so that our teams remain balanced. But we understand that things come up. If you know your child won’t be able to make it on a particular weekend we ask that you please notify us at hudsonyouthrugby@gmail.com.

Equipment Needed

At the end of Week 1, we will provide jerseys that players need to wear each week. We will likely have pinnies the first weekend, until we get to know all the players and divide up into balanced teams. Before leaving Week 1 Games, be sure to get a jersey. We are playing North Canton for Week 2 and want to be ready & look sharp.

Beyond that, here are the additional items required:

Communication

Throughout the season, we will be sharing important league-specific information with you via email. However, there will be many other fun rugby events, pictures and information posted on our social media channels. We encourage you to follow us in the any of the following places:

Hudson Rugby Club - our main facebook page with information about all of our programs K-12

Parent Involvement

We are a volunteer organization and our success depends on parent participation! We have administrative and organizational opportunities available, as well as coaching spots. If you have played rugby in the past, know the sport a little bit, or have coaching experience with youth in other sports and would like to be involved please reach out to hudsonyouthrugby@gmail.com.

If you just want to be a spectator, you are welcome to bring a chair and set up camp on the track of Lavelli or watch from the bleachers.

We look forward to an awesome 2024 season!

The Hudson Rugby Club launched the Hudson Rookie Rugby League in Spring 2023. In addition to our after-school program, the league allows young ruggers the opportunity to learn all about rugby and play in weekly matches.

The league is co-ed, non-contact (flag) and open to children from all communities! Teams are divided into two divisions: grades K-2 and 3-5, and includes instructional time prior to match play. Athletes will work on fundamental skills including running, kicking, space strategy and teamwork.

We also offer 3rd - 5th grade players the opportunity to represent Hudson on a broader playing field with our Sunday Squad. New and experienced players welcome! Check it out.
