Game Schedules

Note to parents...

As mentioned at the Parents Meeting, we have a significant number of new-to-rugby 6th grade boys playing this year - yay!! Fortunately, this allows us to field two boys teams: U12 (5/6th) and U14 (7/8th). Players will get more playing time and newer players will have the chance to focus on skills without as much contact.

There are a handful of 6th grade boys that will float between the teams. Not all "floaters" will play up every weekend and players not immediately identified as floaters can earn the chance to play up throughout the season. Coaches will communicate with those boys/parents weekly and ensure we have enough players to field both teams with strong lineups. 

[If you absolutely do not want your 6th grader to play in the U14 division, please let us know.]

Unfortunately, due to field availability issues this year, the U12 division is playing at St. Edward High School and the U14 is at St. Ignatius. Therefore, the boys side is slightly more complicated than we anticipated. The U12 division tends to play earlier in the day than U14, so there is the possibility the floating 6th graders could play for both teams on a given day if they want. We know it is important to play with your buddies. [At this level, games are only 14 minutes long (two 7-minute halves), so it is not impossible to play four games in a day.]

Game Day Requirements for ALL PLAYERS

1. Please RSVP for each weekend whether you can attend or not. Pay attention to the slot you are signing up for (attending or not attending).

2. Arrive at your game location 1 hour prior to game time to get settled & warm up. NOTE: The times listed in the sign-ups are game times for the first of two games for the day, so you must arrive an hour earlier than that. Warm ups will begin 30 minutes prior to game time.

3. Be fitted & kitted for warm-ups: 

   1. Jerseys must be tucked in. This will reduce your opponents ability to grab onto your loose clothing. 

   2. Layers must be worn under your uniform. Leggings, long sleeved undershirts are all fine.

   3. Mouthguards are required for game play.

   4. Cleats are required for game play. Soccer cleats are great (no metal cleats). High/low top is personal preference.

4. No jewelry can be worn.

5. Bring water and snacks. There is often a food truck at St. Ignatius, but it’s not guaranteed and it is a bit of a walk from our game locations. That being said, it is decent food. We welcome parents to organize team snacks.

U12: 5/6th Grade Modified Tackle

U12 is a modifed version of tackle rugby. This program serves as a gap between flag rugby which focuses on passing and the U14 division which includes more of the contact elements of the game. There are no scrums or lineouts in U12.

U12 games are held on Sundays, starting at the end of March through the beginning of May. Each weekend, the boys play two "7s" matches at St. Edward High School in Cleveland. 

Players please RSVP for each weekend you can attend below.

Note to Floaters: Start by RSVPing for the U12 games that you are available to play. Coaches will communicate with the floaters playing for the U14 team that week and then you are welcome to RSVP for the U14 game that week.

U14: 7/8th Grade Tackle

U14 is tackle rugby and intended for 7th & 8th grade boys. However, some of our 6th graders may play up depending upon ability and roster needs. Coaches will work this out with players & parents.

U14 games are held on Sundays, starting at the end of March through the beginning of May. Each weekend, the boys play two "7s" matches at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. Kyle & McLaughlin Fields are fields south of the parking lots (not the main stadium).

NOTE: The schedule is available for Week 1, but every week thereafter will be based on performance (promotion/relegation). It is our expectation that all U14 games will occur 2:35-6:45p (however, April 28th is a bit later: 2:50-7:20p).
